Verona 1-5 April.
Visitors to this year’s Vinitaly will get a preview of many
of the new products and innovations that will help consolidate
yet further the winery’s position as a leading producer
experiencing inexorable growth and achieving consistent qualitative
improvement.
Here is our own sneak preview of some of the news Rocca delle
Macìe will present at this year’s trade fair: an
all-new wine; distribution of more wines made by other producers,
continuing Rocca delle Macìe’s longstanding commitment
to using its commercial muscle to give exposure to its small-scale
wineries; a summary of the prestigious landmarks reached by the
winery over the past year, which turned out to be yet another
annus mirabilis; the debut of the latest vintages of some of the
wines that have allowed Rocca delle Macìe to become one
of the most important producers in Italy. These are likely to
be the focal points for the press and the wine industry alike
at the internationally significant event in Verona.
“Never before,” claims Sergio Zingarelli, Company
President of Rocca delle
Macìe, “has Vinitaly represented such a crucially
important stage for us on which to present our winery to the world.
We have plenty to reveal at the fair in Verona, with several new
projects already underway that will help bolster our image and
help us grow even more. By setting out our stall, so to speak,
in front of such a large, well-informed and knowledgeable audience,
we will be able to get a feel for people’s reactions to
these adventures into which we have launched ourselves enthusiastically
and which we are convinced constitute the right path for us to
take.” Without doubt, the most eagerly-anticipated moment
is the first-time presentation of Rocca delle Macìe’s
new wine, to be officially released in the near future: Occhio
a Vento, a Vermentino IGT Maremma Toscana 2003. This white wine
is sure to make a real impact on the market thanks to its elegance,
balance, floral bouquet and smooth, fresh palate, and we believe
it is destined to stand side-by-side with Rocca delle Macìe’s
finest and most revered reds.
And yet, even a wine that has been part of the Rocca delle Macìe
story from day one, such as Rubizzo – made from Sangiovese
and Merlot grapes – comes to this year’s Vinitaly
with important news, concerning its appellation: no longer an
IGT Toscana, it is now classified as a DOCG Chianti Colli Senesi
(a sub-zone that has in recent years demonstrated the depth of
its potential), and this change in appellation has been reflected
in a qualitative improvement for a wine that possesses all the
hallmarks that should grant it access to the pantheon of the most
famous Rocca delle Macìe wines.
In addition, the winery has increased the number of distribution
agreements with other wineries: this year, the Rocca delle Macìe
sales team will also distribute the Rasa Winery’s La Serena
Brunello di Montalcino ’99 and Rosso di Montalcino ’99,
as well as the Macchialupa Winery’s Greco di Tufo ’03,
Fiano d’Avellino ’03 and Aglianico ’02. Moreover,
we will also be promoting wines from the Mosnel Winery from Franciacorta,
Fattoria la Rivolta di Benevento, the Consorzio Produttori Vini
di Manduria, Tenuta I Comunali from Tuscany and the Villa Vescovile
Winery from Trentino. All of these producers will now benefit
from the Zingarelli family’s sales network that extends
throughout Italy and far beyond.
