Rocca delle
Macìe’s sales network continues to rise enthusiastically
to the challenge of distributing not only our own wines, but also
wines made by numerous other wineries located all over the peninsula.
In addition to those producers whose wines we have already been
successfully distributing for several years – Mosnel from
Franciacorta, Fattoria La Rivolta di Benevento, the Consorzio
Produttori Vini di Manduria, Tenuta I Comunali from Tuscany and
Villa Vescovile from Trentino – the two new members of the
family will also be distributed all over Italy and far beyond.
“For a number of years,” confirms Sergio Zingarelli,
Company President of Rocca delle Macìe, “our by now
consolidated sales network has been distributing the products
of small-scale wineries located in every part of Italy. In this
way, we can promote consumers’ interest in what are some
of the real jewels of Italian winemaking, such as the La Serena
range and the wines made by Macchialupa. Thanks to the exposure
that we can give them, they move from being niche products accessible
only to the most expert and educated of wine drinkers, to being
easily available in wine merchants and restaurants all over the
country, and so they are more widely appreciated by an ever-increasing
number of lovers of fine wine.”
La Serena is the name given to the wines made by the Rasa Winery,
which is located in Montalcino, land of Brunello – ‘King
of Wines’ – and one of the most exceptional areas
for winemaking anywhere in Italy. Since 1998, Andrea and Marcello
Mantengoli have been on a quest to make truly high-quality wines,
and the results of their endeavors are already tangible after
only a few years. They now cultivate their grapes across eight
hectares under vine, making around 11,000 bottles of highly-prized
Brunello di Montalcino and the same amount of rich-scented Rosso
di Montalcino. Since 1997, in collaboration with their expert
winemaker Paolo Caciorna, they have been experimenting with new
vinification and ageing techniques. The Macchialupa Winery is to
be found in the Valle del Sabato, at the border between the provinces
of Avellino and Benevento. It is a young company, launched only
three years ago as a result of the encounter between the love
of a winemaker, Angelo Valentino, and the passion of a grower,
Giuseppe Ferrara, for the indigenous varieties of the Campania
region. Maccialupa makes three different wines: a fruity Fiano
di Avellino, a spicy Irpinia Aglianico and an intense Greco di
Tufo.
