The ‘PrimoVolo
U.S. Tour’ kicks off on 27 September. This will be the wine’s
inaugural flight across the Atlantic since the first vintage (2000)
was unveiled to the public.
PrimoVolo will accompany the three winemakers who collectively
produce it across the States from 27 to 30 September on a tour
showcasing this unique, complex wine to an audience made up of
wine experts, journalists, and customers. The tour dates are as
follows: 9/27 (New York), 9/28 (Boston), 9/29 (Hartford) and 9/30
(Chicago).
PrimoVolo was dreamt up in 1999 by Andrea Faccio and Giordano
Emo Capodilista on a return flight from the States. They used
the grapes harvested that year to produce a wine based on equal
proportions of Merlot and Barbera grapes, a wine that –
by uniting these highly compatible varieties – succeeds
in fusing the intensity of the former to the elegance of the latter.
Then, in 2000, Sergio Zingarelli decided to contribute the Sangiovese
grape from his beloved Tuscany to this amicable union.
And so it was that, with the 2000 vintage, Andrea, Giordano and
Sergio launched themselves into this triple ‘First Flight’.
Three regions, three grapes and three winemakers united in their
shared ambition to produce an immensely enjoyable, well balanced
wine in which the winemaking heritage of each of the three wineries
interacts with the others to create something very special.
