Vicenza. On
5 November, Rocca delle Macìe returns to what will be the
17th Salone del Novello di Vicenza, the annual exhibition that
showcases the latest vintage of vino novello. Over the years,
the show - orchestrated by Vicenza's conference and exhibition
agency (Fiera di Vicenza) in partnership with the trade publication
Civiltà del Bere - has been instrumental in promoting Italian
vino novello. It brings together around 150 producers from every
part of the peninsula and is held just 24 hours before the 'new
wines' are legally permitted to be released onto the market, on
6 November.
In the city famous for the architectural designs of Andrea Palladio,
Rocca delle Macìe will present its Novello 2004. Made in
large part from Sangiovese grapes, this ruby-red wine with violet
edges is wonderfully fruity, smooth and well-balanced. Bottled
only a few days ago, at the very end of October, it features the
same silicone stopper used for previous vintages. This orange-colored
stopper works in perfect harmony with the striking packaging used
for the wine's labels and case.
SUNDAY 7 NOVEMBER - Rocca delle Macìe will open its cellars
to the wine-loving public. Visitors will have the opportunity
to learn more about the winery and about how vino novello is actually
produced. The doors will be open from 10am until 6pm, with tastings
throughout the day.
