Rocca delle
Macìe will be making the most of its stand at the 39th
Vinitaly trade fair to preview many of its new wines for 2005.
Together with the new vintages of existing wines - including
the 2001 vintage of the Chianti Classico Riservas, the 2003 vintage
of Chianti Classico Tenuta Sant’Alfonso and the 2004 vintage
of Vermentino Occhio a Vento IGT - the fair will provide the
stage for the presentation of two brand-new wines. The first
of these is Borgo Cennina 2003 IGT, the result of a collaboration
between Sergio Zingarelli,
President of Rocca delle Macìe, and the co-owners of the
Poggio Cennina estate in Tuscany, World Cup-medal winner Paolo
Rossi, and lawyer Luigi Pelaggi. The second new wine is Rio Sol
2003, which is currently the only wine produced on the 8th parallel
south of the equator, and the first Brazilian wine to be imported
into Italy by Rocca delle Macìe.
“
This year, as in previous years", states Sergio Zingarelli, "Vinitaly
is a crucially important platform for us. We'll be in Verona
with several products that will help to reinforce our image and
help us to grow yet further. In front of a large audience that
really knows its stuff, we will be in a position to gauge reactions
to the results of these endeavors into which we have thrown ourselves
enthusiastically and in which we really believe strongly.”
Without doubt, the most eagerly anticipated moment will be the
first-ever unveiling of the new wine produced and aged by the
Rocca delle Macìe team using grapes cultivated on the
organic Poggio Cennina estate, which is owned by Paolo Rossi
and Luigi Pelaggi. The dèblocage of the first bottle of
Borgo Cennina will take place on 7 April at 3pm at the Rocca
delle Macìe stand (pavilion 8, stand D8). Presiding over
the event will be the Honorable Gianni Alemanno, Italian Agriculture
Minister, who will christen the new Tuscan wine.
The other new wine has been imported from overseas, following
the signing of a new agreement between Rocca delle Macìe
and ViniBrasil. Rio Sol is made from Cabernet and Syrah grapes
cultivated in an area that is very much off the beaten track,
even for New World wines - along the 8th parallel south of the
equator - and yet it is an area that offers unique pedoclimatic
conditions, ideal for making quality wines.
