February 2010 The vine version of "Big Brother" at Rocca delle Macìe
This is an interesting new project conceived by the editorial team at Wine Surf, which will see the shooting of a series of short films charting the progress of a single vine through the seasons and the most important stages in the cultivation of that vine over the course of 9 months. Thanks to this simple idea, it will be possible to get a handle on what happens to a vine during the 9 months that it takes for the grape to ripen. The first episode of this sort of "Big Brother" focusing on a small Sangiovese vine located in one of Rocca delle Macìe's vineyards was shot a few days ago by journalist and Wine Surf editor Carlo Macchi, with on-site input from our agronomist Alfio Auzzi, and deals with the pruning of the vine. Given that this vine, which will be monitored throughout the year, did not have a name, Wine Surf organized a competition to baptize it. |
